CPLC to initially purchase property in Dayton, Nev. for single-family housing development
Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) has signed a formalized agreement with CPLC Nevada, Inc., a Nevada nonprofit corporation and affiliate of Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC), a community development corporation based in Arizona, to purchase property in Dayton on which CPLC will eventually develop single-family housing. This agreement signals CPLC’s ability to begin development in Nevada, and is tangible evidence of the initiation of the relationship between the two entities. It is also proof of NRHA’s dynamic role in rural economic planning and development for the state of Nevada.
“NRHA was first introduced to CPLC five years ago, Awards and we are excited to see this collaboration come to life,” Gary Longaker, NRHA executive director, said. “It also shows the depth of what we really do here at NRHA – we meet the needs of our rural communities by bringing together local government, private business and service organizations to maximize housing resources and achieve local and regional goals.”
The agreement not only means that affordable, single-family homes will be developed in Dayton, but it also means that NRHA can continue to work with CPLC to bring affordable housing and other services to rural communities throughout Nevada.
Approximately Appointed 45 new single-family homes will be developed on the Dayton site, half of which will be detached, single-family homes and the other half will be townhome-style residences. The homes will be built using state-of-the-art Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), which help reduce building times, costs and energy expenditures.

With limited resources available for investment and development throughout our state, NRHA is helping to meet the housing needs of rural communities and their citizens. Where needed, additional units can help ease the tremendous burden some families face in meeting their housing needs. For those families who are forced to pay 50-60 percent of their household income for housing because they cannot find something more affordable, this housing can be heaven-sent.
