Working the Lobby I do see and talk with everyone that comes on to the Housing Choice Voucher Program (our Section 8 program) at one time or another. I have daily conversations with these people and a great deal of them tell me how tough it is for them to make it day by day. I’ve seen quite a few homeless individuals and families that were either sleeping on someone’s floor until help was available, or worse, sleeping in their cars.

It was a lovely Tuesday in Yerington when I visited with tenants earlier this month to brief them on the scope of work that was about to begin at Yerington Manor. The property is graced with large shade trees and you can hear even the slightest breeze ripple through the leaves. Most residents add potted flowers to compliment the landscape and enjoy taking a stroll to visit a neighbor.

This July I was invited to throw out the first pitch at the Nevada State Little League Tournament in Carson City and talk about the meaning of teamwork with the athletes. While there is no shortage of sports analogies out there, the request really got me thinking about the incredible power, and potential, of a team.
