USDA and NRHA Celebrate Homeownership and its Positive Economic Effects
USDA Rural Development honored top lenders for the agency’s home loan programs at a Homeownership Celebration in Carson City Thursday, and honored realtors and homeowners who continue to work hard to keep the dream of homeownership alive in Northern Nevada.
State Director Sarah Adler also noted the synergy between government-funded or guaranteed mortgages and their positive economic impact on the real estate profession and the larger economy.
“In Nevada during the last two fiscal years we financed 1,264 home mortgages; using data from the National Association of Realtors on the economic impact of home sales, we are able to estimate that the economic activity generated as a result is over $30 million dollars, with more than $15 million of that streaming directly to the real estate industry,” said Adler.
USDA is able to provide 100% financing for qualified individuals and families seeking to purchase in the smaller communities in Nevada. They must be responsible users of credit and show they are ready and able to accept the responsibilities of homeownership. Four families were honored for their commitment to homeownership at the ceremony: Jeff and Brooke Bishop, Wendy Adkisson, Ronald and Dianna Petrie and Ken Richter.
Thirteen realtors were recognized for outstanding participation in the USDA Rural Development home loan programs: Lauren Saunders, of Century 21 Clark Properties; Jacque Hudspeth, of J.E. Johns & Associates; Dale Thompson, of Re/Max Realty Pro’s; Jason Pickle, of M. Scott Properties, Inc; Deane Tollmann, of Re/Max Realty Affiliates; Jody Foley, of Coldwell Banker Best Sellers; Megan Gebhardt, of Realty Executives; Kerry Joslyn, of Keller Williams, Group One Sparks; Judy Thompson, of Century 21 Green Valley Realty; Carol Toohey, of Century 21 Jim Wilson Realty; Barbe Seal, of Coldwell Banker Best Sellers; and Angela Lee, of McCall Realty. Realtors are from the Washoe, Douglas and Lyon County areas.
