Indigo Village Apartments, Fallon – Closer Than You Think
Since the days of Gold Rush travelers and Pony Express riders, Fallon, NV, has grown from a resting spot on the edge of the Forty Mile Desert in the Lahontan Valley to a bustling, modern town with a critical need for workforce affordable housing. The town motto “Closer Than You Think” is accurate describing the short commute along Interstate 80 or Highway 50 from the city lights of Reno or Carson City to the town of Fallon, in Churchill County.
Economic development in Fallon has expanded due to the expansion of the Naval Air Station home to the Naval Strike Air Warfare “Top Gun” training center and the massive Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) in nearby Storey County. While jobs are increasing, workforce affordable housing is hard to come by, especially in the valley where there are more cantaloupe fields and herds of cattle than houses, let alone apartment complexes.
In the heart of Fallon, close to shopping, hospital, community arts center and more, Indigo Village Apartments offers 48 one and two-bedroom apartments on over three acres to low income qualifying households. Originally built in 1977, this community was renovated in 2014. Financing was provided by the USDA 515 and the use of Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC).
