Nevada Rural Housing Authority Receives Two Excellence Awards from the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies

The National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA) announced its Award of Excellence recipients at the 2020 Virtual Annual Business Meeting and Award of Excellence Recognition event held on Friday, December 18.

Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) received two awards: the Single-Family Excellence Award for its development of Home At Last University, an online platform created by NRHA’s Home At Last homeownership program for its homebuyer education needs; and the HOME Excellence Award for its rehabilitation of Desert Properties in Tonopah, Nev.

The NALHFA Award of Excellence is the most prestigious national recognition of local housing finance agencies and the critical work that they do in their local communities to provide affordable housing. Eight NALHFA members were recognized for their outstanding, innovative, and sustainable solutions this year.

“Every year, the Award of Excellence Committee has the difficult task of selecting winners from several deserving submissions, and this year was no different,” said NALHFA President Rich Froehlich. “This year’s recipients demonstrate creative approaches to affordable housing in local communities throughout the country.”

NRHA has received six NALHFA awards since 2016 for a myriad of its programs and initiatives, including the Home At Last homeownership program, Richards Crossing in Carson City and Larios Arms Senior Residences in Winnemucca, Nev.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by NALHFA and a privilege to do the work that earned these awards,” said NRHA Executive Director Bill Brewer. “We dedicate them to the entire NRHA team, our partners and the communities in which we serve – without them, we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our mission in innovative and exciting ways.”
