Nevada Rural Housing Launches New Buy In Nye Homeownership Program for Nye County Homebuyers – Nye County Commissioners Dedicate $400,000 for Affordable Homeownership

Nevada Rural Housing has launched its Buy in Nye homeownership program that offers two forgivable down payment assistance options of either $16,000 or $5,000 paired with a 30-year first mortgage with a below-market interest rate ensuring even deeper, long-term affordability for the homebuyer.

“The Buy In Nye Program will allow us to help many deserving homebuyers who are looking to make their home in Nye County,” said Diane Arvizo, director of homeownership programs at Nevada Rural Housing. “We are excited to continue to offer the opportunity of homeownership to more rural Nevadans, and we are extremely grateful to the Nye County commissioners for providing us the opportunity to deliver these funds to homebuyers who are ready to buy and simply need a vehicle like the Buy In Nye program to get into affordable homeownership.”

To be eligible for the Buy In Nye program, participants must be first-time homebuyers (meaning they cannot have owned a home within the last three years), one borrower must have a minimum of six months of Nevada residency, and borrowers must complete homebuyer education. The household income limit for the Buy In Nye program is 300% of federal poverty level. More information about eligibility can be found at

The Buy In Nye Program may be paired with Nevada Rural Housing’s Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program. The MCC provides qualified homebuyers with federal tax credits for the life of the loan, plus the estimated tax savings is considered additional qualifying income to help more first-time buyers qualify for a mortgage.
