Jack first entered the housing industry in late 1973 when he joined U.S. Shelter Corporation, in Greenville, SC. It was here that he became proficient in subsidized multifamily housing development, construction and operations, and the forming of various types of limited partnerships and other for-profit ownership structures. From 1980 to late 1983, he was employed by The Robert A. McNeil Corporation, where he served as a Regional Vice President for McNeil’s entire east coast operations. In that capacity he handled the acquisition, rehabilitation, and operation of a residential and commercial portfolio valued in excess of $565 million.
In late 1983, Jack was recruited by Robert Sheridan & Partners in Chicago as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Operations. There, he was active in the acquisition, financing, operation, and disposition of all multifamily properties, including large apartment communities and cooperative housing projects in Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Atlanta. In 1985, he was recruited by Integrated Resources, Inc. in New York, where he became Executive Vice President of Residential Real Estate. At Integrated, Jack oversaw residential real estate operations on both a domestic and an international basis. He was responsible for both publically and privately financed housing initiatives, which included multifamily and mixed-use REO assets, and a number of large mortgage holding portfolios.
In 1988, Jack left his position with Integrated to form JL White & Associates. From 1991 to 1994, and while acting as an independent contractor, JL White & Associates managed and disposed of a large residential and commercial portfolio valued at more than $1.9 billion—a portfolio that included single family homes, multifamily properties, office and retail complexes, planned unit developments, and large mixed-use projects.
In 1999, Jack founded a non-profit corporation known as Affordable Housing Partnerships, and in 2001 he formed AHP Mutual Housing Association, another non-profit organization. Both organizations were created to specifically own and operate transitional affordable housing initiatives located within the state of Texas for low-to-moderate-income working families. Through these efforts, he developed a life-long passion for providing affordable housing solutions and increasing responsible homeownership.
Throughout his career, Mr. White has obtained valuable working knowledge of those affordable housing opportunities, rent subsidy, and conventional, institutional and government housing finance programs that remain in affect across our country today. Having dealt with specific HUD, USDA, RTC, and FDIC housing initiatives and financing programs, and SEC and other government regulators, he brings a unique and valuable understanding of the entire housing industry to the residential real estate development and ownership process to the NRHA team and aspiring homeowners across our great Silver State.
His experience includes the handling of residential assets from single-family subdivisions and planned unit developments to multifamily properties ranging in size from 10 to 1,500 units per project. His ability to identify and deal with the diversified need for housing—in both large metropolitan areas and rural communities alike—is unsurpassed. His unique ability to properly employ and apply prudent development tactics in an economically efficient manner is one of his strongest attributes—and one that makes him uniquely suited to help lead our NRHA team.
Aside from his impressive roster of housing-industry experience, Jack is a veteran with an impeccable service record and was honorably discharged from the United Sates Air Force in 1973. He has an Associates Degree in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For over 20 years he held the designation as a Certified Property Manager with Realtor Certification. His professional affiliations include the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Builder Owner Managers Association (BOMA), the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the National Multi-Housing Council in Washington, D.C.
