As an HCV Housing Inspector, Austen ensures that every home families move into meets code and regulation standards — providing safe, quality housing across Nevada.

Before joining Nevada Rural Housing, he served in the U.S. Army as a 92F Petroleum Supply Specialist. That experience instilled the discipline, resilience, and responsibility he now brings to his role every day.

The best advice Austen’s ever received is: “Take responsibility for your own life. Know yourself, and don’t let others choose your path. Take life by the saddle and hold on — it isn’t easy, but with the right people by your side, life is a blessing.”

For Austen, home is rooted in faith and family: his wife, their dog and cats, and keeping Jesus at the center of it all.
