Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8)

Attention Housing Choice Voucher participants: If you are experiencing a loss or reduction in employment income lasting more than seven (7) consecutive days, you are able to request an adjustment to your portion of rent. If your family is experiencing a loss or a reduction in employment income please report this change to NRHA by submitting a request in writing (via email to info@nvrural.org or via mail to 3695 Desatoya Dr., Carson City, NV 89701) as soon as possible so we can ensure that your rent is adjusted and affordable based on your family’s current circumstances.

The Nevada Rural Housing Authority provides rental assistance to low-income households, the disabled, elderly, and veterans through the federally funded Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance program (also known as Section 8). Our HCV rental assistance program increases affordable housing choices for low-income households by allowing families, elderly, and disabled persons to choose privately owned rental housing.

Under Section 8, private landlords can rent apartments and homes at lower rates to qualified low-income tenants. Depending on your income, you may be eligible for assistance with your rent payments.

Nevada Rural Housing Authority is making available for review the 2021-2025 Five Year and Annual PHA Plans. The Plans are available for public review below. The Housing Authority invites program participants and other interested parties to submit comments on the Five-Year Plan for fiscal years 2021-2025 and the Annual Plan for fiscal year 2021. Please make comments in writing and submit before April 5, 2020 to ensure the comments are considered prior to approval by HUD. A public hearing regarding both Plans will be held on April 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM. This meeting will only occur via teleconference and cannot be attended in person due to COVID-19 requirements.
